Amazing shot, and some of the hardest to capture. Great job!

Whoops, I meant time exposure, not time lapse, in the previous comment.

This is a wonderful photo. The spookiness of it was helped out by the fact that the thunderstorms were occurring above a fog layer....that gives the towers of the bridge that obscured look. The thunderstorm itself was occurring in a cloud based up above the fog, it looks dark black in the center of this time lapse.
I'd love to use this photo in my classes, Mr. Fennema.
By the way, someone found one of the comments offensive below. I read the comment, and did not find anything anyone should take offense about. I do storm photography, and it's true that most of the skill is with the photographer, and not the equipment, though that helps (I have a 'Nikon D90').

@Crispy McC...
*sigh* The LAST thing I want to start is a flame war. No assumptions, nothing against why she wanted to see the camera. Its AWESOME that she wants to know the details, and very generous that Mr. Fennema provides them. If this photo gets someone interested in photography, all the better!
My response was simply due to the *many* questions I field exactly like the one she posed. The common misconception is that "If I buy camera X, I can get picture Y."
Please please please, no mal-intent on my part. Very sorry it came across that way! (Sarah, please accept my apologies?)

@Jason - keep your comments to yourself. You're making assumptions about why Sarah might want to know what type of camera was used. You're prolly a newb anyway.
Last comment by Jason on 16-Sep-09:
Hey Sarah James... just a general note, the type of camera has a lot less to so with the photo than the skill of the photographer.
And the notes of the camera type, focal length, shutter speed, aperture, etc... are in the lower left corner of this photo page.
And I LOVE this photo!!! well done, Mr. Fennema!!

My goodness. This is a positively breaktaking image. You show real dedication to your art. An inspiration indeed.
Can you please tell me what camera you have?
